iPhone 6S release date & new features

With just a few days to go until Apple launch the iPhone 6s and 6s Plus, we take a quick look at the likely new features of Apple's latest and greatest smartphone. The iPhone 6s should be announced during the week of September 7, with Wednesday September 9 being the most likely date. The device will be then be available for order sometime toward the end of the following week.

New cameras: The iPhone 6s will feature major improvements to both the front "FaceTime" and rear "iSight" cameras with an increase to 13Mp  for the camera on the rear.

Force Touch display: a more sophisticated touchscreen capable of differentiating between a light tap and more sustained pressure allowing users to control the device more efficiently, skipping menus and getting directly to the function they wish to use.

New colour option: rose gold in addition to the already available gold, silver and space grey.

Stronger case: A new stronger form of aluminium (used on the Apple Watch) and internal mechanical design should prevent a repeat of iPhones bending in users' pockets

Improved and faster Touch ID: to facilitate the increasing use of Apple Pay.
